So, here we are.
Valerie was released from the hospital on Thursday, July 28th.
She has a hospital bed that helps her tremendously with getting up and down.
She has a walker that provides an extra bit of security and comfort for her to walk a bit.
I don't mean to be blunt and insensitive, but we can't act and fight without a proper view of what we are facing. And frankly, what we are facing is difficult - not impossible, and not without hope - but difficult.
Now that her cancer has spread to her spine, it is considered Stage IV Breast Cancer.
The 5 year survival rates in the states is 18%.
That's why we are going to Mexico... to the Oasis of Hope (www.oasisofhope.com). Their 5 year survival rates are 75%!
It costs quite a bit of money, so if friends or family alert you to a fundraiser...that's why.
Please know that we welcome all forms of support: happy thoughts, prayer, positive energy, funny cards, and money for those that have it to give. We know as well as anyone that times are hard. Please know that your offers of positiveness are just as welcome and helpful as money.
We are hoping to finalize plans for Mexico in the next day or so. We will keep you posted.
Also, there is a new facebook page "Friends of Val" - it doesn't have info on it yet, but it will soon. So, like the page and you'll get some updates that way too.
love you all.
