Valerie has been getting an IV of glucose, electrolytes and a sedative. She took a nap for the first hour of the drip, but has since been awake and alert. She said she feels more calm, more in control, and..... wait for it..... she asked for spaghetti! :)
So, I'm waiting for the kitchen staff to make the spaghetti and I'll go get it by 7pm. She has eaten more today - small bowl full of strawberries, couple of handfuls of pringles, and some papaya.
She'll get the drip throughout the night. If she wakes up feeling like she can eat and take the supplements, then we'll stay and resume the IVs. If she wakes up feeling nauseous, we'll head home to work on that.
I'll try and do even a one liner quick email in the morning to let you all know if we are staying or going.
**Here are a couple of more people that help Valerie most every day...the first is Dorian, he's our Patient Representative. Basically, anything we need to know: see the doctor; help communicating with the nurses; can I steal that table out of that empty room etc, we ask him. (btw - he ran and got the table for me immediately) :)
The next two are of one of her nurses... he's never worn a name tag and we've never asked his name. He speaks very little English. He's always kind and gentle.

it's Lisa - praying, praying, praying for a positive one-liner in the morning. love you girls very much.
I heard the spaghetti over there is made with either carne asada or al pastor.
Thank you for posting the pictures of the caretakers/nurses/doctors. It really helps paint the picture of what it's like to be there.
