Valerie has felt pretty lousy all day - pain in her upper back, nauseous, and really tired. Some explanations could be... she hasn't taken a pain medication since early yesterday. She talked to the doctor about getting off of the morphine. Getting off of the morphine can be difficult for 2 reasons: 1-she's not getting a pain med and 2-withdrawals can make you feel lousy. This afternoon, they gave her a shot of something to help with the pain that isn't habit forming or as hard on your system as other drugs.
She has felt some better with the pain, but still really tired and nauseous. AND we thought today was a slower day - the way the chart looks, it seemed like 3 IVs today (compared to 4 yesterday)... well, it's actually 5 today. 2 vitamin C, 2 vitamin K, and 1 Laetrile/B17.
So far, she's done 1 of each. We are going to wait awhile to see if the nausea subsides and then do the last 2. Tomorrow is definitely a day of rest... only supplements. And the doctor has already said that if she is too nauseous for the supplements, not to worry. They are the least important treatment while she's here. They will be much more important when we leave.
We've also had Hoag overnight all images from her tests done there... bone scan, MRIs, CT scans, etc. They want to look for themselves at what is actually going on. Depending on what they find, there is a possibility of doing spot radiation to her back in just one or two specific spots (where she may have compression fractures). They said that the radiation can help instantly with the pain and it makes the bone stronger. We'll see once the images get here.
