OASIS - PART DEUX - DAY 6 - GREAT NEWS!!!

Dr. Cecena - thought I had a better picture
but I'll get one.
I had to share this news RIGHT NOW.... one of the doctors just came in - Dr. Cecena (don't know how to put the tilde over the n -- gringos say it with me, suh-say-nyuh).  He was the doctor that did the initial phone consult a couple of months ago and he always makes rounds with El Jefe, Dr. Contreras.

He came in to update Valerie's chart, to check on her progress while she was home and to do a physical exam.  After doing the physical exam of the tumor and of the one inflamed lymph node that was cancerous, he said that he would estimate the lymph node has shrunk by 50% and that the tumor in her breast has shrunk by 20-30%!!!!!!!!!  As he walked out the door, he looked back, smiled and said, "Congratulations."

I'LL SAY - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!  WOO HOO!!!  Such wonderful, validating, encouraging news!!  There's more (different from other people) good news, but that will have to wait until later.  We've got to get going to the Whole Foods.  :) :) :) :) :) :)

Tracie and Val: I read this and the tears began to flow uncontrolably....tears of joy and happiness. God is so GOOD. I praise him for the healing that so thankful that he led you to these wonderful Drs. in Mexico. Its been an emotional day for me. We attended a memorial benefit for a friend who passed away last Dec. from leukemia. It was happy (that so many people took part in a worthy cause) and sad to what his young daughter who will have to grow up with out her Daddy. Then I came home and read this post and it was just overwhelmed. SO HAPPY.....SO, SO, SO HAPPY for you guys!!! I am sure nothing compared to the happiness that both of you feel, YIPEE!! HAPPY DANCE!!!

Love you both! Tammt

Tammy - thank you so much. I cried too. Such a relief to know that we are doing the right thing and headed in the right direction. We were talking to Dr. Contreras about whether or not she should be doing chemo and he said to her, "If I remember correctly from last time you were here, you did not really want to do chemo and this is much more in line with your heart and your wishes. And it seems to be working." We both loved that he said that - he remember what she'd said, and he listened and worked with her. I think one of the big reasons it has been working is because it is closer to what Valerie (and me too) believes and feels is best for her - more natural, less toxic, etc.

I'm sorry you've had a rough day and so sorry for the loss of your friend.

Thank you for sharing in our happiness and excitement - it really means a lot.

love you!
