As many of you know, Valerie chose mostly alternative natural treatments for her cancer.  I firmly believe that these treatments gave us another year with her that we would not have had otherwise.  When she was sent home with no hope from the oncologist's office here, the Oasis of Hope in Mexico gave us a lot of hope, and time together.  For that I am forever grateful.  If you are interested in more information about them, go to http://www.oasisofhope.com/.  The Cancer Aid and Research Fund supports these efforts to provide cancer treatment without toxic side effects.

Dignity and equality are very important to us and several years ago Valerie was moved to do something brave and radical in the face of the California voters stripping us of that dignity and equality.  When they voted to take away our freedom to marry she wanted to do something meaningful and impacting.  One day she said, "We are marching in the streets for equality but we aren't going anywhere.  Let's walk to the California Supreme Court in protest!"  After realizing she was serious, that's exactly what we did.  With the help of some friends here in L.A., and with the extreme generosity of all the strangers that hosted us in their homes night after night, we walked to the Supreme Court in San Francisco.  During the walk we wore protest signs, we met with the media, and we spoke out for equality.  For more information on our journey, go to http://www.revoke8.blogspot.com/.

Thank you and hope to see you at the service.
